One of the last birds of the day. Viewed along the road at Fernwood. The male is a striking bird!

April 29, 2001: Aberlady Bay LNR, East Lothian, Scotland
Saw a cock pheasant and two hens while driving to the park (in the field where they can almost always be seen). Didn’t see one in the park, but heard several calling – a rather unattractive squawking sound.
May 5, 2001: Aberlady Bay LNR, East Lothian, Scotland
Saw and heard several of these, including one which flew by fairly close to me. I don’t think I’d seen one in flight before. They are quite pretty birds.

May 17, 2001: Capel Fleet Raptor Viewpoint, Kent, England
We saw several pheasants, including a group of three that appeared to be juveniles – the hens looked rather fluffy (as compared to adults), and the cock had a very short tail. We saw several adults in other parts of the drive, as well.
May 18, 2001: Stodmarsh NNR, Kent, England
Saw some pheasants – hardly surprising. They are quite common in the UK.
January 31, 2002: Marine Terrace, East Lothian, Scotland
This bird became a regular visitor to our front garden, even wandering up our front steps on at least one occasion. Very beautiful and it was especially nice to see one so close, Eclipse got to see him several times, as well.
